Community Counts
FreyerMartin takes an active role in the communities where we live and work. Our philosophy of giving back is demonstrated through a number of corporate and personal initiatives, and when you put them together, they represent a true commitment. We strongly encourage - and support - our employees' broad and varied community involvement.
Premiere Charitable Partner: Second Chance Employment Services
This is the only nonprofit employment agency in the country that is dedicated to finding meaningful employment for women who have been victims of abuse. This amazing organization helps women prepare for interviews, secure work, and rebuild their lives after abuse. SCES's passion and dedication to serving their clients inspired us to donate educational workshops and other services to support their efforts.
We also reguarly support:
American Cancer Society -Cancer has touched the lives of all our employees and their families. We were a 2008 Relay for Life sponsor - from 2pm to 7am, someone was always on the track. Why all night? Because cancer doesn't rest. We support the ACS funding of R&D initiatives seeking a non-toxic, non-invasive cure.
Chemo Angels - Add a ray of sunshine to the lives of those undergoing IV chemotherapy treatment through encouragement and support. Chemotherapy patients are matched with a personal Angel who strives brighten the day. Services include phone calls, visits, cards, information, and more!
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - A genetic disease with no cure, but researchers have finally found the source, and are hopeful a cure may be found in the next 10 years. In the meantime, young people must endure a health maintenance program that has extended life expectancy from seven years to 28 years.
Election Volunteers - Our hard-fought freedom and fundamental rights as Americans give us a voice in how our government works. We participate in a process that determines who will represent us, our families, and our neighbors in our communities, our states, and our country. FreyerMartin proudly gives staff paid time off to volunteer for primary and general elections.
National Association of Women Business Owners - A nonprofit organization that helps build a community of relationships and provides resources that facilitate the growth of women business owners and their businesses.
National Center for Children and Families - A nonprofit organization whose mission is to create total, healthy living environments for vulnerable children, youth and families, and the quality of life which empowers their ability to thrive and demonstrate responsibility.
Montgomery County Agricultural Center - As the Washington Metropolitan area expands, precious farmland and local history are lost to housing developments, roads, and shopping. We care about the way of life that got us here and continues to keep us fed. Volunteers work with the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair, whose proceeds fund the next year's fair and provide scholarships to students studying agriculture, or family or consumer sciences.
Potomac Ridge Behavioral Health System - A nonprofit, JCAHO accredited system designed to provide acute inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care for all members of the community, starting at age 6. Activity is focused on ongoing community education around mental illness; the goal being to remove the stigma of mental illness and encourage treatment.
The American Red Cross - We all expect blood to be there for us, but barely a fraction of those who can give, do. The American Red Cross responds to more than 70,000 disasters each year. Sooner or later, we will all face a time of great vulnerability in which we or someone we know will need blood.
The Lisner-Louise-Dickson-Hurt Home - A nonprofit organization providing complete housing services, personal, medical and social care for indigent and modest-income seniors of the Washington Metropolitan area. Residents benefit from resources to live in grace and dignity.
